Personal

Do you like to hear my story?

Here are some of my favorite pictures to share:

Once upon a time, I was young and happy. I searched and searched in the world until I finally found Beatrice, a wonderful girl who later became my wife. I am a lucky guy. Both of us grew up in Southern Taiwan, but we met in the States many, many years later.

Like a little kid, I love to go shopping (or run errands) with my wife. Although shopping is not my hobby, I truly enjoy being pushed around on a shopping cart.

We have traveled many places. Below is the place I enjoyed very much: the old house where Mark Twain had stayed in NYC.

And then, there came our dragon princess, Emily. We take great pride in her. Throughout her entire student career, she had developed strong self discipline about study, work, and making friends. We never had to worry about those hassles for her. She has multiple talents in music, writing, photography, gourmet cuisine, and business. She is always keeping busy and enjoying her life. You can find out more about her from http://themadmagpie.com/about, or follow her twitter at http://twitter.com/exrpan. Her literary journal is http://www.bodegamag.com. You’ll probably be amazed by her.

In addition, we also have a lovely and loyal friend in our house. It’s a lady Bichon Frise, named Melodie. Melodie is a Bichon Queen in our community as she is the largest one in the neighborhood. You probably have figured out that she’s got pretty good appetite. People used to stop us and take a picture of her when we go out to take a walk.

Melodie is getting senile, however, she still works hard to do her duty to guard our house. The following video showed how she tried  to scare deer off our property: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVm1aF3WYw8

By the way, Melodie loves to watch me practice stick movement. Click the link below to download my movement in WMV video. Or click here to view the Youtube video.

Here is another Youtube video clip showing my wife in the traditional Manchurian costume and with classic Chinese Opera movement.

By the way, if you know Chinese or would try to read Chinese, here is my blog on Globalization in Chinese.

I have a sister and a brother. I am the baby in the family. Here are some of the old pictures of us. Can you tell which one is me? You’ve probably guessed it. I am the one on the right.

The following is an old wedding picture of my parents over 60 years ago. Amazingly, their marriage was not arranged. They met, fell in love, and got married.

Recently, my nephew Michael Pan graduated from the Graduate Architectural Design in Bartlett, University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. We are all very proud of him. Before he started working in Beijing, China, he and my brother paid a visit to my Mom in Tainan, Taiwan in March, 2013. Here are a couple of the visit pictures: (on the left: Michael and Grandma; on the right: My brother and Mom)

The following picture is about some of my friends and me playing ping pong in a friend’s place.

In March, 2013, we visited the displays of contemporary Chinese art works at the local Lawrence Library. Here is the picture of my wife and me at the library.

Time is flying by quickly. It’s 2014. We have had a lot of snow this year. It’s cold but very beautiful. Here are the snow scenes from our yards:

Emily and Loren (another lucky guy) got engaged last year. (The engagement pictures are here: http://melissakruse.pass.us/emilyandloren/) They planned to get married this coming August.
